2022 Honda HR-V RS: Detailed in pictures

It was two months back that Honda Malaysia launched the all-new 2022 HR-V in the local market. The car was a hit from the very beginning with demand for reaching the sky with more than 20k bookings and 12 month long waiting period. And it was only recently that the automaker delivered the first unit of the car.

With so much excitement around the new HR-V, it makes one think about what it has on offer that makes it such a customer magnet. Out of all the four HR-V variants on offer - S, E, V, and RS, the range-topping trim covered 20 per cent of HR-V bookings.

In this article today, we’ll be checking out the all-new 2022 Honda HR-V RS model in detail via images of it from all angles. So, let’s get started -

The HR-V sure is a people’s car, however, that doesn’t mean it has to be boring, especially the range-topping RS version. For instance, at the front, the car showcases stunning chrome with a distinctive red pulse line running along the lower grille with LED fog lights. The latter gives the driver confidence to drive in the dark.

The front lighting units are mesmerizing not only to look at but also offer good visibility to the driver in dark. What we see above is full LED headlights with front LED sequential turn signals.

The HR-V RS commands the road with its sporty design language that includes striking 18-inch sporty alloy wheels.

The RS body-coloured outer rear-view mirror is a combination of form and function. These units are power-retractable with LED turning lights that allow the driver to park in tight spaces.

Like the front, HR-V’s rear profile also displays an attractive site thanks to the sporty looking LED taillight strip and tailgate spoiler that puts the car’s a class above its own.

Sporty from the outside, the new HR-V is super comfortable on the inside. Thus giving the driver and passenger a great deal, a complete package. Honda claims the interior to be inspired by nature with the cabin being centred around light and wind.

Apart from offering a spacious and comforting cabin, the RS trim comes equipped with several tech innovations making the car ready for the driver’s every command. Part of the kit is a 7-inch interactive TFT meter cluster with a customisable display that offers a snapshot of the drive.

Taking care of the driver and passengers' connectivity, entertainment, and navigation needs is an 8-inch display audio system.

When inside the new HR-V the scorching sun will bother you no more thanks to the dual-zone auto air conditioning system. What’s best is it offers customisable cabin temperature for driver and passenger No, the rear passengers are not forgotten with the rear air-con vents that keep it cool at the back.

The HR-V is the first Honda car to benefit from an air diffusion system that allows for better circulation of cool air in the cabin.

Offering the driver the ultimate feeling of comfort and luxury is the car’s 8-way driver adjustable power seat.

The connectivity front is taken off by the car's 4 USB ports that would never let the driver and passengers' smartphone batteries run low on battery.

The range-topping HR-V RS model comes with a hands-free power tailgate with a walkaway close function. All one has to do to open the boot is raise their foot from below the rear bumper, it’s that simple. Wanna close the tailgate, just walk away from it.

The car has a hidden storage compartment hidden under the cargo floor. One can use it to store things that should be kept out of sight.

As with most Honda’s, the new HR-V also benefits from multi-utility seats that allow the owner to place things of different sizes quite easily. The car offers three utility seat modes - Utility, Long, and Tall, each with its own share of spacing.

The steering wheel comes with several intricate controls one of which is the deceleration selector paddle that allows the driver to better engage in the drive.

The sportiness of the HR-V RS version is visible from its metal-plated sports pedal.

Adding to the car’s driving dynamics is its 3-mode drive system which includes ECON, NORMAL, and SPORT mode. Depending on the requirement (thrill or efficiency) a driver can select one of the above-mentioned modes.

The HR-V comes with a tuned Honda LaneWatch system that assures safe driving by eliminating blind spots and allowing the driver to see what’s approaching.

Parking becomes so much easier with the car’s multi-angle rear view mirror that keeps the driver in control of the surroundings.

With just the pull of a switch, the driver can activate the electric parking brake with an auto brake hold that makes the parking process sleek, minimal, and fatigue-free.

The range-topping RS version is powered by an exclusive e:HEV hybrid powertrain. The setup includes a 1,498cc 4-cylinder, 16 valves, DOHC i-VTEC engine and an i-MMD electric motor. While the former makes 107 PS at 6,000-6,400 rpm and 131 Nm at 4,500-5,000 rpm. The electric motor, on the other hand, makes 131 PS along with 253 Nm of torque. The drive is sent to the wheels via an electric continuously variable transmission.
