2022 Ford Everest teased ahead of global debut
KUALA LUMPUR: Ford recently unveiled the first glimpse of the updated Everest SUV that will make its global debut next year in Australia and southeast Asian markets. The revamped model is currently in the testing phase and if we go by the teaser, we can expect it to be more premium and off-road capable.

The upcoming Ford Everest is likely to be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cyl twin-turbo EcoBlue diesel mill or a new 3.0-litre V6 turbo unit.Ford says, “The Next-Gen Ford Everest builds on its award-winning capability, and has the versatility to handle mountains, tracks, or city streets."
The teaser previews the 2022 Everest in digital camouflages designed by Lee Imrie, a designer at Ford Australia. It shows key design cues including a muscular front design featuring a 3D grille, LED headlamps with C-shaped DRLs, and a Ford badge. However, the side profile looks much similar to the ongoing model with large alloys, roof rails, and upright pillars. Different LED tail lights connected by a black trim at the rear round off the upcoming SUV’s design.
As for the interiors, the Everest facelift may borrow cues from the Ranger, including a portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system and more connected car technology features. Other onboard features onboard should comprise a digital driver’s display, ambient lighting, a branded sound system, tri-zone climate control. A panoramic sunroof will also be there.
In terms of safety, Ford is likely to pack the upcoming SUV with advanced safety systems and Advanced Driver Assistance such as rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, autonomous emergency braking system, and so on.
Under the hood of the 2022 Ford Everest, we may find a 2.0-litre four-cyl twin-turbo EcoBlue diesel mill or a new 3.0-litre V6 turbo unit. The former generates a maximum power output of 170 PS while the latter delivers 257 PS along with a peak torque of 600 Nm. A 10-speed automatic transmission could be paired with these engines as standard.
