2022 Daihatsu Gran Max launched in Malaysia with new tech features

A couple of things one must consider while buying a commercial vehicle are convenience and practicality. Providing you both with a new package is the all-new 2022 Daihatsu Gran Max MC (Minor Change). 

The official distributor of Daihatsu commercial vehicles in Malaysia, Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, launched the new Gran Max in the local market earlier this morning. The latest LCV comes with significant tech improvements and safety features that help in offering an overall amazing driving experience. Let's discuss the newly added bits in detail, but before that, look at the engine specs and price.

Available in the pickup and panel van options in the market, the new Gran Max continues to get power from the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder petrol mill, which generates a maximum power output of 98 PS and a peak torque of 134 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 5-speed manual or a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The new Gran Max price starts at RM 73,888 (NSP) effective June 2022; terms and conditions apply.

Moving on to the 2022 Daihatsu Gran Max's new features -

Power Windows

The 2022 Daihatsu Gran Max is equipped with power windows, on both driver and passenger sides. It adds to the driver's convenience as it enables him to manage the controls of both windows independently and simultaneously. Also, the power windows do not divert the driver's attention for rolling windows up and down as the case with the manual windows, thus raising the safety quotient as well.

New Multimedia Player System

As Infotainment and connectivity have become an important part of current vehicles, the new Gran Max also gets a new multimedia player system. The new unit has a high-resolution 7.0-inch touchscreen display with touch controls. It is loaded with many infotainment features that can keep the driver entertained and informed while on the road.

The new in-vehicle infotainment system is paired with a smarter Android 10.0 Operating System, allowing a smoother and more efficient user experience. It features a double-Din head unit player with a tuner and offers multiple media sources accessibility options like radio, MP3 player, Aux-Jack and USB port.

The Gran Max's new infotainment unit also comes with a new Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity feature. With this, drivers can conveniently pair their smartphones with the head unit. It synchronises the mobile phone book on the system, thus enabling the driver to easily manage contact lists and accept/end calls while driving.

Another remarkable feature of the new system is the latest Android and iOS PhoneLink tech. It supports Android two-way control and iOS one-way control and connects via cable mirroring to project mobile display onto the screen. The users can see the connected smartphone apps and GPS display on the screen. Planning the most optimised route for daily deliveries can be done via GPS mirroring.

Reverse Camera

Next on the 2022 Gran Max new features list is the reverse camera. Available as standard, the camera will help drivers eliminate the chances of minor accidents or collisions. They will also be able to monitor blind spots while reversing the vehicle. The system also adds to the convenience as it offers easy parking, reversing, and stress-free manoeuvring in busy traffic areas. It leads to less damage and thus saves repair costs.

Fast charging USB port 

Enabling the passengers to charge their devices on the go is an additional 12v-24v fast-charging USB port. Compatible with a wide range of device profiles, this effective battery charging system offers peace of mind on long trips.
