2021 Suzuki Swift Sport bookings now open in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: After a 5-year hiatus, the Japanese automaker Suzuki is all set to make its return to the Malaysian market. Yesterday, we told you that the new official distributor of Suzuki cars in Malaysia is Naza Eastern Motors who has planned to roll out two new cars this month only. Out of the two, the name of the one is officially out now and that is 2021 Suzuki Swift Sport as expected. The bookings of the hatchback are now open as per the Facebook post of Aravin Naza Sales.
The post of the sales advisor also revealed the Suzuki Swift Sport estimated price i.e. RM 145,000. It means the new version will be much pricier than its predecessor, which was priced between RM 97,888 and RM 102,888. The company also confirmed that the upcoming model will be fully imported from Japan (No Made in India Suzuki car will be launched here) with a 2-month waiting period.
Under the hood, the new Swift Sport is likely to equip a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine delivering a maximum output of 140 PS and a peak torque of 230 Nm. The mild-hybrid powertrain available in Europe is highly unlikely to make its way to the local market due to the lack of incentives for low CO2 engines here.
Coming to the transmission pairing options, the B-segment hatchback could include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic (with shift paddles) for sending power to the front wheels. Performance-wise, we can expect a zero to 100 kmph run of eight seconds with a top speed of 205 kmph.
The new Suzuki Swift boasts a stylish exterior design in a compact size of only 3,845 mm long; it also offers a spacious cabin and enough luggage space. Standard equipment list could include LED Headlights, LED rear combination lights, 16-inch alloy wheels, front electric windows, leather steering wheel, a large infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, air conditioning, rear view camera, radar brake support with adaptive cruise control.
For more details, we will have to wait for the model's launch later this month.
