2021 Porsche 911 GT3 gets a new Touring package
KUALA LUMPUR: In February this year, Porsche introduced us to the seventh edition of the powerful GT, called the 911 GT3, and just now it introduced a Touring package for it. The pack adds new exterior styling and more elegant trimmings inside that make it more blissful. However, just like the Touring version available for the predecessor, this also comes with no mechanical upgrades.
What significantly differs from the standard 911 GT3 with the Touring model is the omission of the fixed rear wing. Rather, it carries a hidden and automatic rear spoiler that guarantees the necessary downforce at high speeds. Another notable highlight is silver-coloured trim strips on the side windows that are made of high-gloss anodised aluminium.
Further, underlining the newcomer’s discreet appearance is the front spoiler painted in the exterior colour and silver-coloured tailpipes of the sports exhaust system. A ‘GT3 Touring’ logo is also positioned on the rear lid grille located over the high-revving engine.
Inside, the 911 GT3 Touring shows off the atmosphere of a classic sports car. All the significant touchpoints, including the steering wheel, gear lever, the cover of the centre console, armrests, and the door handles are covered in black leather. In contrast, the partial leather interior trims get black stitching, and seat panels also don with black fabric. The dashboard and the upper side of the door panels feature special surface embossing.
Mechanically, the Touring package does not bring any change. This means the car continues to get the power from a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine churning out a maximum power of 510 PS and a peak torque of 469 Nm. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The latter enables the car to hit 100 kmph sprint in just 3.4 seconds and 200 kmph in 10.8 seconds, while the former clocks these targets in 3.9 seconds and 11.9 seconds, respectively.
It also continues to be equipped with a double-wishbone front suspension, and 20- and 21-inch forged wheels. The car’s kerb weight also remains unchanged at 1418 kg with a manual gearbox and 1435 kg with PDK.
The new Porsche 911 GT3 Touring is slated to go on sale later this year with a starting price of $161,000 (RM 662,925).
