2021 Mercedes S-Class teaser released, reveals front design
KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz is prepping to pull the cover off its new S-Class sedan as it recently unveils its first official teaser. The camouflaged spy shots of the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class have been coming for a while, and also undisguised images surfaced on the internet a few days ago. But now, the spy shots have turned into reality, and the first official picture of the revamped flagship sedan has been released, though it is shrouded in darkness to save details for the final showcase.
In addition to this, Mercedes-Benz has also confirmed that the world premiere of the new S-class will be in the second half of 2020 as initially scheduled, along with revealing a few more details of the next-generation sedan.
Codenamed as W223, the new S-Class sports a familiar look as its front end design does not stray too far from the ongoing iteration. But at the same time, it portrays a modern look with a new headlight design taken from the CLS and E-Class facelift.
In a recent interview at ‘Meet Mercedes Digital’ online communications platform, Daimler CEO Ola Källenius calls the sedan, “technological tour de force.” He also told the experience of driving a pre-production car while mentioning it as a “very serene and quiet ride.” He further added, “the predecessor set the bar high, but the new S-Class will be special.”
However, no substantial information about the mechanical set up of the sedan has been revealed. But it is expected to get hybrid powertrain all along with diesel and petrol.
Speaking of the expected hi-tech appointments, the sedan may get the latest version of the MBUX system, premium sound system, ambient lighting, powered front seats with ventilation function, panoramic sunroof, new drive modes, and air suspension.
The production of the 2021 S-class is set to begin in September this year at Mercedes-Benz Factory 56, in Sindelfingen, Germany. The firm has also confirmed that it will commence the manufacturing of an all-electric version of the sedan, Mercedes EQS, at the same facility in 2021.
About the arrival in Malaysia, no official statement has yet been made. So stay tuned with us to know more about this.
