2021 MCO update: Volkswagen Malaysian dealerships and service centre remain open

KUALA LUMPUR: In order to curb the spread of Coronavirus, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced the re-introduction of the Movement Control Order restrictions - 13 to 26 January in the states of Malacca, Penang, Sabah, Selangor, and federal territories of Labuan, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya. Further, MCO restrictions from 16 to 29 January 2021 are imposed on Sibu, Kelantan, and Sarawak. Thus, banning all social gatherings, travel between districts & states, stay at home orders, etc. Amidst the new MOC orders, what is the status of the auto industry? Well, we have received clarity from the German auto giant, Volkswagen.

As per VW Malaysia’s recent announcement, all its dealerships and service centres will remain open. However, strict safety protocols will be in place ensuring the maximum safety of the customers.
For instance, the vehicles and the premises will be sanitised regularly, MySejahtera app temperature checks and check-ins, and proper safety screening.

Apart from this, VW Malaysia has also introduced several initiatives that’ll ensure proper service and maximum safety for its customers. Like the 24 hours open Volkswagen eShowroom that provides stay at home buyers exclusive saving options over and above the current Chinese New Year rebates. Dealerships are also providing free home delivery services to customers within 20km radius.

For existing VW customers who wish to get their vehicle serviced, is the ‘Safe Hands’ initiative that works under strict safety guidelines. Part of this initiative is contactless vehicle acceptance, sanitisation before & after service, video walkthroughs, cashless payment, and contactless car pickup. Interested owners can book service appointments via VW Malaysia official website.

VW Malaysia’s Roadside Assistance service will also remain operational. In the event of an emergency, drivers can contact the service centre via the toll-free number 1800-88-2389.
