2021 Honda HR-V Special Edition now on sale in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: Before the introduction of the Proton X50 and Toyota Corolla Cross, the Honda HR-V was the segment leader for many years. However, it is still a hot-selling model and is currently in the headlines for its special edition version called the HR-V SE.
Honda Malaysia is offering this special model in a limited quantity at a price of RM 105,364 (on-the-road without insurance). This means it is RM 1,364 dearer than the base E variant on which it is based. So, what extra does the SE offer? Let’s know.
The SE badge adds a new driver-assistance kit and accessories to the base HR-V. The former includes a Blind Spot Information System, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Door Opening Warning. Ongoing safety features are six airbags (dual front, side, and side curtain), automatic brake hold, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, emergency stop signal, and a multi-angle rearview camera.
The list of added accessories comprises a digital video recorder, a trunk tray, and a trunk organizer. Further differentiating the HR-V special edition model is an SE badge positioned on the front.
Under the hood, the SUV is equipped with the same powertrain, that’s a 1.8-litre 4-cyl i-VTEC mill generating a maximum power output of 142 PS at 6500 rpm and a peak torque of 172 Nm at 4300 rpm. It is mated to CVT automatic gearbox sending power to the front wheels. This enables the SUV to run from zero to 100 kmph in 8.6 seconds.
Standard exterior kit includes halogen headlights with automatic function, daytime running lights, front fog lights (bulb), side mirrors with turning lights. LED tail lights, shark fin antenna, and 17-inch wheels wrapped with 215/55R17 tyres. Inside, the SUV is packed with an advanced multi‑information combination meter, auto air-conditioning, leather-wrapped steering wheel, ULTRA seats with half-leather upholstery, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, Apple Carplay, and Android Auto connectivity, cruise control, and paddle shifters.
