2021 Haval H5 leaked ahead of debut in China
KUALA LUMPUR: The Chinese car manufacturer, Great Wall Motors is working on the next-generation of its compact SUV, Haval H5. As per the Facebook post of CarNewsChina, the model will hit the local market in the third quarter of 2020. The post also revealed the leaked images of the upcoming H5.
In the leaked images, the 2021 Haval H5 looks radically different from the older model. At first glance, it seems that the boxy-design SUV has taken styling clues from the latest Ford Bronco. The softer and rounded-off front fascia has been replaced with a more squared appearance. The new headlamp set up is complemented by a redesigned large grille having three horizontal slats. The black bumper joins the front-end with integrated tow hooks, which is extended to the similarly colored body cladding covering the squared-off wheel arches, the side skirts, and the rear bumper. The roof rails and black cladding lend a more rugged appearance to the SUV. In terms of dimensions, the new Haval H5 measures the same as the older model.
The Facebook post does not reveal the cabin images and its details, though we can expect to have some latest technological upgradations. It may include a large multimedia touchscreen and WiFi/4G connectivity.
Similarly, not much information is disclosed about the mechanical specifications of the upcoming Haval H5. It will include the choice of either 1.5-litre or 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engines, with the option of a plug-in hybrid trim.
The reports from international media also state that the automaker has planned to launch new H5 in the Chinese and Indian markets later this year. However, the Malaysian launch is not yet apparent.
