2021 Ford F-150 Raptor teased ahead of the debut on February 3

KUALA LUMPUR: The automotive industry is anticipating the launch of the new F-150 Raptor since the day Ford introduced the updated version of the standard pickup. Well, now the wait is going to end soon as the American automaker has finally revealed the teasers of the upcoming performance truck on social media with an announcement that it will make a debut on February 3, 2021, at 11 a.m. EST.

On his Twitter account, Ford CEO Jim Farley posted a blurry teaser video previewing an uncamouflaged look of the 2021 F-150 R running through the desert with a soundtrack “Enter Sandman,” by Metallica. The clip reveals the headlights and the overall shape of the truck. 

Along with this, an image of the upcoming iteration was also shared on Twitter by Mike Levine, Ford’s product communications manager. Although that picture is not much revealing, it shows a close-up view of the new front grille with a thick mesh-pattern and prominent “FORD” lettering. On the top section of the grille, there are three separated lights and on each side of the bonnet, black decals can be noticed.

As far as the mechanical specifications are concerned, Ford still remains tight-lipped. However, the anticipations move around the two possible options - an EcoBoost V6 and a V8 borrowed from the Mustang Shelby GT500. The supercharged 5.2-litre V8 mill delivers a maximum output of 760 horsepower and a peak torque of 847 Nm. 

The Predator-powered F-150 Raptor will rival against the likes of the 2021 Ram TRX that houses a supercharged version of FCA’s 6.2-litre Hemi V8 mill generating 702 horsepower and 881 Nm of torque.

Other expected tweaks for the upcoming Raptor include a lifted ride height and a sophisticated suspension setup for soaking up patches on the road.

Inside, it can get the updates seen on the standard F-150, including a 12-inch SYNC 4 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, B&O Sound System with Bang & Olufsen speakers, and higher quality materials.
