2020 Volkswagen Nivus teased, to debut in Brazil first
KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen has teased its upcoming Polo-based Compact SUV Nivus in a teaser video. The Nivus is set to feature a sporty urban coupe and make its debut in Brazil in 2020. The vehicle will be produced at Volkswagen’s Ancheit plant in Brazil.
VW Nivus features a sloping roofline with a sharp-looking windscreen, that leads to a tail-gate mounted spoiler. The car also displays a unique front-end design to differentiate it from its previous generation models,
the Polo and the T-cross. The other prominent elements on the car include integrated LED daytime running lights with sweptback headlamps, triangular fog lamps along with wraparound taillights.
The upcoming VW crossover vehicle is all set to drive on Volkswagen’s MQB platform. Though there are no details on the specifications of Nivus, this compact five-door crossover will reportedly be offered with a 1.0-litre TSI engine for the Brazilian market.
The reported output of the engine is said to be of 126hp which will come mated with a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel-drive, users will also be provided with the manual transmission option.
Previously, the German carmaker had said that the development of Nivus was completely done in Brazil and is claimed to combine sportiness with a high driving position.
This sporty looking cross-over car is meant to be more affordable offering to the customers around the globe, who are looking for an option into the crossover coupes.
