2019 Toyota Avanza officially launched, price starts at RM 81k

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only yesterday when 2019 Avanza was displayed at Toyota's Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya showroom. And today UMW Toyota Motor has officially launched the car in the country, as expected in three variants.

• 2019 Avanza 1.5S - RM 83,888
• 2019 Avanza 1.5S+ - RM 87,888

Note, the prices mentioned above includes 5-year/unlimited mileage warranty and are exclusive of insurance.

All the three Avanza trims are powered by the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder petrol mill that can also be found under the Rush and Myvi as well. This 2NR-VE petrol engine churns out 105 PS at 6000 rpm and 136 Nm at 4200 rpm. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Outside elements like bi-LED headlamps, shark fin antenna, front fog lamps, roof spoiler with LED brake lights, and 15-inch alloy wheels are standard fitments. The 1.5S and 1.5S+ trims feature dual-tone finishes on the wheels, retractable ORVMs, and tailgate with dark chrome and red reflectors.

On the inside, the digital manual air-con system and fabric upholstery remain common across the new Avanza lineup. The base variant showcases a 3-spoke steering wheel, a double-DIN head unit with four speakers, and an analogue instrument cluster with small display. Moving a level up, the 1.5S offers a multi-info display, steering wheel with audio controls, chrome door handles, and six speakers. The range-topping trim, on the other hand, comes with 6.75-inch Display Audio touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a reverse camera, and voice recognition system.

All-new Avanza standard safety kit includes - two airbags, ABS with EBD, and two ISOFIX anchors on the second row. The 1.5S+ trim is the first Avanza model to benefit from advance safety techs like rear-cross traffic alert and blind spot monitor.

Toyota Malaysia is offering the 2019 Avanza in four color options that are common across the lineup. The color card includes Dark Red Mica Metallic, White, Black Metallic, and Silver Mica Metallic.
