2018 Proton X70 SUV online booking to begin from Oct 17

KUALA LUMPUR: The Proton X70 SUV is announced to be available for online booking from 17th October onwards. The offline booking had already started from the 8th of September, where potential buyers need to deposit an amount of RM1,000 to book the vehicle. Proton plans to launch the much-awaited SUV sometime in November. The brand also unveiled the safety specifications during its second preview of the X70.

For booking the X70 online, customers need to fill up the booking form displayed on their microsite landing page. One week after the online booking is made, Proton sales staff will contact the customer and let them select between the company or private registration. Also, they will confirm the variant the customer is interested in buying. The buyers can compare the four variants of X70 on the basis of their general specifications, exterior, and interior color options available.

The automaker has given a great deal of attention to the safety aspects of 2018 Proton X70, which has robbed all the attention during its second preview. All the four variants have been stuffed with six airbags, traction control, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) coupled with brake assist and EBD, Bosch’s generation 9.1 stability control etc. Hill start assist and hill descent control featuring 4 kmph downhill speed also come as standard across all variants.

Safety quotient goes even higher in the premium range models with the smart inclusion of AEB, ADAS, Intelligent High Beam Control, blind spot monitor, front collision warning, and lane departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available too but functions from 30 to 150 km/h speed and lacks the stop-and-go facility. 19 different sensors, one radar sensor add further to the overall safety quotient.

The four variants of 2018 Proton X70 that are about to hit the dealership are Premium 2WD, Executive AWD, Executive 2WD, and Standard 2WD. Each of these variants will draw their power from a four-cylinder 1.8-litre TGDi turbocharged petrol powertrain, which generates 181 hp and produces 285 Nm of torque from just 1,700 to 4,400 rpm. The petrol engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission coming with manual mode.
