2016 SsangYong Tivoli to Debut at Frankfurt with Two other Concepts
Kuala Lumpur: Among a pool of concepts which are being launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show, SsangYong will be bringing two of its concept SUVs. Earlier this year, the B-segment Tivoli was revealed by this Korean automaker, and both the new concepts are bound to be based on this platform only.
These new concepts would be named as SsangYong XLV-Air and SsangYong XAV-Adventure. The XLV-Air which is in its pre-production stage would be a long-bodied version of Tivoli. One can also notice a sportier front and rear bumper with red highlights and its off-roader-style side sills. Though SsangYong has not revealed much about this car but has said that it will pack more luggage space and an option of 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre diesel engine. Further, this seven-seater SUV would be mated with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission and would be a two wheel or four wheel drive.
Talking about XAV-Adventure, it is being described as a modern take on the Korando along with a masculine touch. As a compact SUV, it would offer maximum drivability along with off-road capability. Both cars have been revealed as sketches right now, but more information is expected to be revealed at the show.
Earlier, a prototype was spied along with a five-seater Tivoli which appeared much longer around the C-pillar. A third-row seat was also noticed along with more interior space. Going by the prototypes, Tivoli is reported to measure 300 mm longer than the existing 4200 mm long SUV.
SsangYong has committed to release a new model every year up to 2020, so you can expect a lot more concepts in the pipeline. Daniel Cotterill, a spokesman for SsangYong earlier stated- “Don't rule Tivoli out, but it's just not certain. And until. For whatever reason, be it currency or whatever else, until we can get the right numbers, we won't. But if we can, we would like to.”
