2016 Proton Perdana Bookings Started: Why to Buy?
Kuala Lumpur: A big shout-out to all the Proton fans, Proton has finally started taking bookings for the all-new Perdana, which is expected to get launched by March this year. The price of 2016 Proton Perdana is expected to lie between RM100,000 to RM150,000. Earlier Proton announced a price hike for all of its cars which became effective on February 15, and hence, this price may be a result of the hike. The main culprit for this scenario is undoubtedly the weakening Ringgit, which has affected other automakers as well. But despite the price rise, we will give you many other reasons regarding why you should buy this car.
Yesterday we reported about the launching of Proton's new logo as a part of 'It's in the Drive' campaign. The new Perdana would be the first car to inherit this new logo. Apart from the new logo, the styling of this car has also been tweaked. The updated Perdana has now got distinct looks from the Honda Accord and holds a unique design language. It has now got a completely redesigned C-pillar along with a sharp slope which resembles Jaguar XJ. Unlike the older model, the new headlamps and taillamps look unique along with new door handles. Overall, the new Perdana gives more of an elegant feel and not a copied version.
As announced by the automaker, this car would be rolled out in two variants namely Perdana 2.0 and Perdana 2.4. The former would be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine which churns out a maximum power of 154 hp at 6300 rpm along with a peak torque of 189 Nm at 4300 rpm. The other variant would be employed with a 2.4-litre 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine which is capable of delivering a maximum power of 181 hp at 6500 rpm along with a peak torque of 222 Nm at 4300 rpm. Further, both the variants are mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission.
Apart from the engines, it has also been technically updated with GPS navigation, reverse camera, automatic dual zone air conditioning system and a power seat for the driver. Along with the airbags, its braking mechanism is now assisted with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Although we have tried to give you an idea about the 2016 Proton Perdana, but expect a full detailed review once the car gets launched officially.
