Top April Fool’s pranks pulled off by automobile companies
You are completely misguided if you think that automobile companies are all about technology and specifications. They have a sense of humor too and they did not miss the chance to pull out some exciting pranks on this April Fool's Day.
Automobile companies, be it Honda or Aston Martin, tried pulling off some tricks of their sleeves and raised our expectations till we realized we were being played upon. You simply cannot trust anyone on the 1st of April. Here are some of the top April fool pranks played by our favorite automobile companies in 2018:
Tesla hit by bankruptcy
Elon Musk tweeted a picture of him being passed out against a Tesla model which also claimed that the company has gone bankrupt owing to a number of financial reasons. It also said that he was found surrounded by a number of “Teslaquilla” bottles. That was some smart play of words. Wasn’t it? Not really the best of the pranks, but it sure made for a good Sunday.
SEAT comes up with Coin-Operated cars
SEAT unveiled its latest iteration of the Arona Crossover named Arona Copper Edition. Where’s the prank? Wait for it! It was said to be powered by pennies. Exactly!
Honda comes with a topless SUV
Honda tried to impress us by removing the roof of the Honda CR-V. It certainly was a good prank and we really hope that it was just a prank and Honda doesn’t take this idea seriously ever.
Porsche turns back the clock
Porsche announced on April Fool's Day that it would be soon launching a Porsche Mission E tractor, an ode to its tractor models from the 1950s. They also mentioned that it will be able to generate power of more than 700 hp and will be the fastest accelerating agricultural vehicle ever. It was also claimed to be the quietest and the cleanest tractor in the world.
Yes, it was a prank!
Aston Martin’s Project Sparta
Aston Martin came up with a tweet which mentioned about the arrival of ‘Project Sparta” - a monster truck programme. It really worked well as a prank and got the automobile enthusiasts all excited until they realized the date.
Alpaca-power for a higher horsepower?
This is our personal favourite. MG Motor UK came up with an idea to use alpaca waste in order to power its cars. They even came up with an explanation for this weird idea stating that alpaca waste has been chosen because it doesn’t need to age before being transformed into a useable fuel. Full marks to their imagination!
So, next time if an automobile company announces a groundbreaking product on the 1st of April, you know how to take it.
