Proton X90: Detailed in 25 images

It was only a few days back that Proton Malaysia launched the all-new X90. It is the national automaker’s third model in its X series after the X70 and X50 and is expected to be as successful as the former two models.

Based on the Geely Haoyue, the all-new Proton X90 is available in four variant options and in two interior layouts. The table below gives full information about the new Proton’s trims and prices.

Note, the above-mentioned prices are all on the road without insurance. All purchases include a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and free labor for six services. Various other benefits like a five-year data connectivity package of 1GB a month for the car as well as interest rates from as low as 2.1% and more will be offered under the Proton insurance programme.

Also, the national automaker is offering an early bird package for the first 4000 buyers which includes an additional 4GB of data to the car’s 5-year connectivity package, a Proton X-Watch worth RM 1,499, and a complimentary accessory package worth RM 779.

Before we move on to examine the all-new X90 in detail, here’s a bit about its color scheme. Proton offers the X90 in six striking tones, namely -

• Jet Gray
• Cinnamon Brown (from Executive trim)
• Ruby Red (from Executive trim)

The X90 is 4,835 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,785 mm tall, thus making it 316 mm longer and 69 mm wider than the X70. In terms of the wheelbase, it is 145 mm longer than the X70 at 2,815 mm.

The X90 comes equipped with stylish full LED headlamps which offer maxim illumination in all weather conditions.

The front sequential turn signal lamps are not functional but add to the car's look.

The X90’s dynamic aesthetic is enhanced by the 19-inch alloys with a geometric multi-spoke design.

The front welcome lamps project Proton’s logo on the ground, a classy touch to welcome the driver and passengers onboard.

The panoramic sunroof helps passengers enjoy a full view of the skies above. Making the car feel spacier and airy.

The 10-inch high-definition full LCD meter combination displays information in the most clear manner.

Adding a classy touch to the car’s interior is the ambient lighting setup.

Three out of four X90 variants offer a 3-row seating configuration that offers appropriate comfort to the passengers.

The car comes with soft and supple leather seats that offer sheer comfort via power adjustment, lumbar support, and a ‘Boss’ switch for added luxury.

The X90 offers uncompromised comfort and true personal space thanks to the captain seats.

Taking comfort to the next level is the car’s ventilated seats with cool air circulation.

The new Proton benefits from auto dual zone air-conditioning with an N95 cabin filter that automatically regulates the cabin temperature calling for a comfortable journey.

Optimum cooling is part of the X90s standard kit which it offers via 2nd and 3rd row air-con vents.

Adding to the car’s convenience and safety is the walk-away auto lock that locks the doors automatically as the driver leaves the car.

The X90’s power tailgate automatically opens for a hands-free operation.

The X90 comes with a tyre pressure monitoring system, which displays real-time information as shown in the above image.

What you see above is Proton X90’s 360 camera with a 3D display system that offers visual assistance to the driver for easy maneuvering and parking.

The X90 gets a 12.3-inch infotainment head unit that offers easy access to important info at users' fingertips.

The X90 offers several amazing connectivity features including online navigation with traffic alerts & driving directions, online music streaming & weather forecast, and smartphone connectivity via mirror-link Android or iOS.

The X90 gets seven USB ports that allow the driver and passenger to charge electronics with ease.

A clutter-free mobile phone charging is offered via the car’s wireless charger.

Open the hood and you will be greeted by a hybrid system that offers improved performance and fuel efficiency. The setup includes a 1.5L TGDi turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 48V Electric Motor Synergy system. The former makes 177 PS at 5,500 rpm, 255 Nm at 1,500 to 4,000 rpm and the latter generates 14 PS and 52 Nm.

The engine comes paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with manual mode that offers faster, smoother, and more responsive gear shifting.
