The 2018 Nissan Grand Livina was launched with an updated design giving a fresh lease of life to the ageing MPV. The MPV which was first launched in 2007 was in need of a major upgrade after having only received a minor facelift in 2013. Post the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, it was speculated that all-new Nissan Grand Livina would be launched, inspired from the Mitsubishi Xpander. While both the cars may have several similarities, the Nissan Grand Livina holds its ground. Let us look at the nitty-gritty of the Nissan Grand Livina.

Design

The design of Grand Livina 2018 is significantly better than its predecessor. The automakers have thoughtfully considered the trends of the present era while maintaining the nostalgia around the decade-old model. The challenges of cross-badged models remain the exterior design, and the Livina does not disappoint on this front.
The Grand Livina 2018 comprises swooping V-shaped chrome grille along with fluid lines on the front bumper. The angular and swept-back angular headlamps will undoubtedly grab your attention. You also get a fog lamp on the front bumper. On the sides, there is a moulding and wing-mirrors with LED indicators.

On the rear, the rear lamps extend across the tailgate giving the Livina 2018 a more distinct look. The reflectors are integrated with the rear bumpers. The 15-inch v-spoke alloy wheels complete the design overhaul. The Nissan Grand Livina 2018 ends up with a stark difference in design from the Mitsubishi Xpander.

The Nissan Grand Livina is offered in three variants – 1.6L M/T, 1.6L A/T, and 1.8L A/T. The top variant is powered by a 1798 cc 4 cylinder petrol engine that can deliver 124 hp at 5,200 rpm and 174 Nm Torque at 4,800 rpm. The vehicle is front wheel drive and a 4-speed automatic transmission with lock-up torque converter. The all-aluminium cylinder ensures better performance with reduced noise and vibration. The car is also backed by an advanced suspension system which results in better handling and stability.

Interior

The interiors are sleek and evoke a feeling of luxury. The meter illuminates in pristine white giving you all the vehicle data. You get an electric power steering which yields better and smoother handling. The audio and multi-information display controls are present on the steering with night illumination.

The interior design is quite spacious, although the space on the third seat maybe perceived on the lower side. The Livina 2018 offers a lot of permutations and combinations for folding the seats as per your requirement. The second row, third row, half of the second row, or half of the third row can be folded based on the space you need. The lack of a navigation system and Bluetooth connectivity is a major downside.

Safety

The Nissan Grand Livina 2018 offers a range of safety features. The standard safety features include ABS, dual front airbags, zone body construction, collapsible steering wheel, and NATS immobiliser. You also get a Brake Assist System that ensures additional stopping power by activating EBD and ABS during panic braking. The Electronic Braking Force Distribution (EBD) optimises the front and rear brake force depending on the load condition. The NATS immobiliser acts as an added layer of security preventing unauthorised deciphering of codes.

Technology

Nissan seems to have added new-age technology in the 2018 model of Livina. The most notable one is the intelligent key or i-key that will lock or unlock the car automatically. It delivers both convenience and security. You also get keyless start switch, front door request switch, and back door request switch. The vehicle is equipped with a 2-Din audio system with AUX jack.

The Nissan Grand Livina is available in five colours – Graphite Blue, Bronze Gold, Diamond Black, Tungsten Silver, and Brilliant White. The lowest variant is priced at RM 82,194, the second variant costs RM 85,968, and the top variant is available for RM 97,016.
