2023 Honda WR-V: Variants explained

Globally revealed in November last year, the all-new Honda WR-V landed on Malaysian shores a few days back. The WR-V is a compact SUV, which sits below the HR-V in the brand’s local lineup. According to Honda, it is the ideal companion for young adults and families who seek a small SUV with a vibrant and bold personality to complement their active lifestyle.  

The new Honda SUV comes in four variants -  S, E, V, and RS. Today, we will be discussing all these variants in detail, helping prospective customers in making an informed decision. So, without further ado, let’s begin with their price comparison.

With each purchase, Honda Malaysia offers a standard 5-year unlimited mileage manufacturing warranty to customers along with five complimentary labour services that can be taken within five years or 100,000 km (whichever comes first).

The 2023 Honda WR-V variants share the same dimensions when it comes to length and width, measuring 4,060 mm and 1,780 mm, respectively. However, their height varies across the different models. The base-spec S variant stands at 1,576 mm, while the E, V, and RS variants measure 1,608 mm in height. 

The wheelbase remains consistent at 2,485 mm, providing a stable and comfortable ride, while the ground clearance measures 220 mm, ensuring the ability to tackle various terrains with ease. Also, all variants offer a spacious 380-litre boot space. 

It's worth noting that despite their shared dimensions, the curb weight differs among the four variants. This diversity adds to the lineup's versatility, allowing customers to choose one that aligns with their desired balance of performance and efficiency.

Engine

In terms of mechanical setup, all the variants of the Honda WR-V are identical. All are powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces a maximum power of 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 2,300 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox. 

However, when it comes to performance, we can observe a slight difference due to the variation in curb weights.
