All-new Hyundai Casper prices revealed; bookings open in Korea
KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai unveiled the first look of its Casper mini-SUV a few days back without disclosing any interior details. Now here comes the full-fledged cabin images and specifications along with the price announcement for the Korean market.
Hyundai is now accepting the bookings for the new Casper in three variants - Smart, Modern, and Inspiration. Pricing for the base Smart starts from 13,850,000 won (RM 49,162), the mid-spec Modern tag reads 15,900,000 won (RM 56,444) while for the top-spec Inspiration, the Korean customers will need to shell out 18,700,000 won (RM 66,384). These prices position Casper as Hyundai’s most affordable SUV.
Dimensionally, the SUV is 3,595 mm long, 1,595 mm wide, 1,575 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2400 mm. These make it even smaller than our Perodua Ativa.
Well, despite the small size, the Hyundai Casper seems to have a quite roomy cabin to conveniently accommodate four passengers. It is equipped with a number of hi-tech features in typical Hyundai fashion. With the flagship model, the customer gets an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen unit coupled with Hyundai CarPlay, navigation, blue link, and voice recognition system, a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 6-speaker audio system.
Another important highlight to be mentioned here is the front seat folding system. Both the front seats of the SUV can be folded along with the split-folding rear seats, this can switch the cabin area into a comfortable lounge. In addition, the rear seats can also slide and recline as per the need for rear legroom or trunk space. Keeping the seats in the most forward position offers a boot space of 301 litres.
On the safety front also, Hyundai’s most affordable SUV will not disappoint you as it is fitted with 7 airbags as standard. Advanced-driver assistance systems like forward collision-avoidance assist and lane keep assist are also parts of the standard kit. However, the top-spec model also gets smart cruise control and blind-spot collision-avoidance assist.
Hyundai offers the Casper in two engine options - 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated mill churning out 76 PS of maximum power and a 1.0-litre turbo unit good for making 100 PS. It is mated to a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
